The objective of this exploratory study is to analyze the importance of the presence and interaction between children and animals for learning emotions, especially empathy. The anchoring framework is based on Wallon, Latour, Montagu, Gazzana and Lima, among others. Methodologically, it is a research with a qualitative approach, of the exploratory study type, of bibliographic-documental nature, being descriptive and analytical regarding the objectives. The technique and procedures for data construction are the survey and selection of cultural and artistic productions, imagery, with representations of children's characters and their pets of various species, in urban and rural contexts, in comics (HQ) and national and international strips available on the internet. The data give clues that the interaction between children and pets promotes socialization and facilitates the learning of emotions, especially empathy, responsibility, valuing the lives of human beings and many beings in different environments.
