Throughout the 19th century, families such as Carneiro da Cunha and Souza Rangel, whose members were founders of the Conservative Party in Paraíba, created and recreated networks to ensure the permanence of their descendants in the political, economic and social hierarchy of the province. Thus, the present study intends to identify which were the political practices and sociabilities forged by these two families from Paraiba. To do this, some periodicals from Paraíba were consulted at the time, especially O Publicador, baptism seats, records of buying and selling of enslaved people, and studies about the conjuncture, mainly politics of the time. In this way, the following article was elaborated through the cross-referencing of these sources and the assimilation of concepts such as networks of sociability and political cultures.
