The studies on José Antonio de Pereira Ibiapina, better known as Father Ibiapina, deal in their entirety with the religious pilgrimages held in the Northeast during the years of 1860 and 1883. The other professional activities he pursued were demerited by biographers in an attempt to strengthen the narrative of the myth of an apostle of the Northeast. However, his bachelor's degree in law contributed to his inclusion in the Constituent Assembly, allowing participation in decisive spaces of the Empire. In view of this, we aim to recognize the performance of Deputy Ibiapina in the years 1834-1837, as representative of the Liberal Party of Ceará. To do so, we refer to the studies of the New Political History, specifically in the dialogues with Language and Sociology.
