Through the investigation about the rivers in Belo Horizonte we realize the importance of the relation between men and Nature in the cities. Natural elements in urban spaces can acquire affective, social and, specially, political significance. The canalizations of rivers in Belo Horizonte were part of a urban project that prioritize the car. In this process the rivers were eliminated of the urban scenario with the purpose of the enlargement of paved streets.
