Abstract

The present article presents the first conclusions that the research reached in the comparison between the Urban Reforms realized in Rio de Janeiro in the 20th and 21st centuries. Starting from an initial review of the literature and aiming to present a comparative analysis, the study demonstrates that the dialogue between History and Social Sciences can be a useful way for the researcher who has embarked on this path. Considering the concept of historicity and analyzing the meaning that the concept Modernization assumed in the twentieth century and the twenty-first century, it aims to show how its meaning has changed in different historical contexts.
