The article seeks to rethink some concepts and historicities on the subject city, initially confronting own ideas with some classic authors who study this issue and will be discussed here as a social experience and a problematic policy, put daily debate by different ways of life that meet and challenge. Thus, the worth of journalistic sources and especially oral, we propose to deepen on the subject unknown cultural, urban and economic experiences of the "floating city" of Manaus that between the 1920s and 1967, took almost all the waters of coast of amazonense capital, becoming one of the most striking and original urban expressions.
