Reflexões sobre a questão indígena no Seridó
entre a história e o patrimônio cultural
Keywords:
Seridó, Indigenous history, Cultural heritageAbstract
The essay proposes a reflection about the indigenous question in the Seridó. Reflection that builds as we share the view that, although there are Indians living in that region, its heritage is present in the story – especially in the history of relations with the luso-brasílicos, blacks and mestizos – and in culture. That is, the indigenous history and culture are part of the cultural heritage of Seridó people. This reflection forwards from the realization of indigenous presence in fountains of documents of the region, of the 18th century to the 20th; in testimonies materials present in archaeological sites; in monumental testimonies of shock period of native culture with the West, as well as in toponymy; in oral tradition.
