Still in the first quarter of the twentieth century Campo Grande has become the main economic and political center of the south of Mato Grosso, and you can visualize this scenario a political elite formed by men whose main source of income came from livestock. Were mainly farmers, typical coroneis: personalistic, clientelistic and patriarchal, described by Victor Nunes Leal in his classic Coronelismo, enxada e voto. For these coroneis, the government was a continuation of the farmhouse. In this paper we present the foundation of the public figure in the early days coronelismo in Campo Grande.
