Abstract

This work is spatial and temporal clipping the city of Campina Grande, Paraíba, focusing on the first half of the twentieth century. Through the sources researched try to present a vision of the process of appointment and reappointment of the core streets of this city. We understand that the name of a street records in time and memory the socio-political and cultural transformations of a place. Are notes of individual and collective memory. Name is not a "neutral" process: it "intentions" built by a particular social group at a historic time. In a sense, the changes that passed the city were registered in the names that have been granted to the streets, thus demonstrating a process of transformation spatial and cultural.
