Abstract

This article is the result of research being developed in a community laundry Salvador. The research was conducted through direct observation of the activities that are made in the laundry Nossa Senhora de Fátima, placed in the neighborhood named Alto das Pombas. Through interviews, it was known the culture and the memory of washerwomen working on site. One of the main results of the study, beyond to collect data on the history of laundries maintained by the state government, was find forms of cultural resistance undertaken by washerwomen to maintain their way of life and ensure your space of housing and work.
