Devotion to Our Lady Mediatrix of All Graces began in Belgium in the 1920s, with Cardinal José Desiderio Mercier, one of the pioneers of the theory of mediation, in which Mary is venerated as a mediator of divine graces. In Brazil, belief in Mother Mediatrix expanded from their devotion inside the Rio Grande do Sul state, more precisely from the city of Santa Maria. That said, this text has among its goals systematically lecture on the history of the Pilgrimage, reflect on their patrimony, and to examine in particular the power relationships that transform a religious event into a "commodity" to local tourism.
