Abstract

This article deals with the city of Fortaleza-CE as a space for the political upheavals of the year 1968. It addresses the various student organizations that carried out marches in the capital of Ceará, often entering into friction with the police forces. The year of 1968 was also marked by the realization of the first armed actions in the state. Faced with the limited results of the student mobilizations of 1968, the desire of the guerrillas as a political option to overthrow the dictatorship and to implant socialism was growing more and more among some leftist militants. In the following years, there was an immersion of militants in the armed struggle, soon disrupted by the repression of the military.
