Historiographic perspectives:
national minorities and identities based on a focus on subalternal and post-colonial studies

This article aims to discuss of the academic production by subaltern studies and postcolonial studies, emphasizing the historiography about minorities and the discussions about national and local political identities. The first part of the text brings information about the subaltern studies, such as origin, main authors and conceptions. In the second part we analyze the work of authors such as Homi Bhabha, Stuart Hall, Partha Chatterjee, Ranajit Guha, among others, to reflect on the notion of national identity and its modifications over time. Finally, will talk theoretical-methodological choices developed by subaltern and postcolonial studies and, consequently, its importance for contemporary historiography.
