Certainly, that the city of Porto Seguro (BA) has an incalculable value in the historical context of the country. This reflection has as main objective to contribute to the decoding of a dichotomy established between territory and identity within a local scale. The attempt to make indigenous peoples invisible in the territory of
Porto Seguro is a continuous and marked action by the globalization of mass tourism; which justifies the production of research such as the one that generated this article. Despite this scenario, the research concluded that there is resistance from the Pataxó and the engagement of research institutions, such as the Federal Institute of Bahia in Porto Seguro, which produce actions that prevent the total process of invisibility of these traditional peoples.
