This paper presents the municipal postures of the chamber of an Indian village of the former captaincy of Porto Seguro called São José de Porto Alegre, which was created in the context of the implementation of the Pombaline indigenous policy in 1769. The purpose of the transcription and reading of this document It is to launch some notes for future research on the politics and administration of Indian villages, seeking to highlight the role of indigenous protagonism in the composition of the city council norms, as well as the presence of indigenous politics in the determinations of local governance.
