Abstract

The daily life um the 1950s-1960s of a traditional prostitution zone of the city of Feira de Santana (BA), called Beco da Energia that occupies the core of the discussion of this article . We aim to analyze the history of this space against the historiographic narratives written about Beco to the memory of its former residents and of the other individuals who frequented it, thus problematizing the different meanings woven about this area. Our work is inserted in the field of the Social History of Culture and the Studies of Memory. As sources we used oral interviews, journals of the Folha do Norte newspaper and the Codes of Municipal Postures. For this analysis, we use the theoretical debates made by historians and social scientists.

Author Biographies

Lucymara da Silva Carvalho, universidade estadual de feira de santana

Master student in Social History, in the line of research Culture, Identities and Languages, of the Postgraduate Program in History at the State University of Feira de Santana (UEFS). My area of ??interest addresses the following themes: gender, race, prostitution, memory, family, decoloniality, city, black feminism and Afro-Brazilian writing. Currently, I am developing research aimed at discussing the concept of family and prostitution in the city of Feira de Santana between the decades of 1950-1970.

Graduated in History Degree from the Federal University of Bahia (1990), Master in History from the Federal University of Bahia (1998) and Doctorate in History from the Federal Fluminense University (2010). He is currently Adjunct Professor B at the State University of Feira de Santana. She has experience in teaching and research in the area of ??History, with an emphasis on History of Bahia and History of the Republic, acting mainly on the following themes: marital relations, poor women, race relations, gender, dating, defloration, family, marriage and popular culture.
