A “Questão de Grossos” e o conflito narrativo entre os personagens locais (1901-1905)

This article aims to analyze the "Questão de Grossos" a territorial dispute between Rio Grande do Norte and Ceará that occurred between 1894 and 1920, focusing on the period from 1901 to 1905. The research investigates how the local elites of Grossos leveraged this conflict in the press, exploring publications such as Jornal do Brasil, O Paiz, Correio da Manhã, A Notícia, and Gazeta de Notícias. Considering the press as a strategic space for elite debates, the study examines how these groups sought to influence public opinion, enhance the territorial visibility of "Grossos," and strengthen their own positions. Thus, Grossos is interpreted not only as a territory in dispute but also as a space of disputes.
