The history of education is a long-established field of knowledge that allows us to understand the transformations over time and the historical foundations of Brazilian education. Here, we propose to reflect on the history of education through public history practices and explore how this approach brings a new perspective to educational research, based on experiences with public interviews and work with teachers’ narratives. The relationship between oral history and public history in this context further enhances the formative potential of these narratives, making it possible to learn about the diversity of teaching and education through them. By employing public history, we propose an additional way to analyze and develop research that is horizontal and closely connected to the community.
