The present work aims to document the process of producing didactic sequences in the teaching and learning of Mathematics, based on the historical method. The work is the result of the post-doctoral practicum at ProfHistória-UFRN carried out by the author. In this article we bring the researcher's journey in the area of History of Mathematics and the need to understand the historical method and use it from the perspective of teaching and learning in Mathematics. The article presents theoretical studies, the sources consulted and the creation of narratives in the form of short stories, culminating in the elaboration of didactic sequences. These sequences address mathematical knowledge that arise from the local histories of municipalities in Paraíba, over time.
