This study addresses the transformations arising from the new historiography of Paraíba after the reopening of the National Association of History Teachers – Paraíba Section (ANPUH-PB) in 1979. After the institutional changes arising from the rectory of Lynaldo Cavalcante, the History Department of the University Federal Government of Paraíba included teachers who criticized the curriculum and traditional History teaching. It was in this context, as an institution of scientific production, that ANPUH-PB became a social place for the new historiography of Paraíba. Our theoretical approach is based on the development of historiographic practice presented by Michel de Certeau. The minutes of meetings and records of the XI National History Symposium in 1981 and the I State Meeting of History Teachers in 1984, both held at UFPB in João Pessoa, were used as documents/monuments, in addition to historiographic texts produced by the respective historians. .
