Abstract

The worsening climate crisis and the consequences linked to these perceptible changes in various domains of the planet have called upon different fields of knowledge to develop critical reflections on a certain way of inhabiting the Earth. In line with this inflection, some contemporary tendencies in literary studies highlight the intricate relationships between imaginative creation and the living world, including Zoopoetics (Derrida, 2002; Maciel, 2016, 2020, 2023; Simon, 2020). In this article, mobilizing the tools of this theoretical-critical approach, Ferreira Gullar's poetry is questioned, taking animality as the category of investigation. The contact with the author's work allows to understand different animal species. Due to the frequency with which animals appear in poems, we take a look at Gullar's latest collection of poems, Em alguma parte alguma (2010), attentive to life forms representing miniature animals, mainly arthropods and other small specimens of fauna that live in urban areas. With this reading, poetic gestures that redimension the position of the human being in relation to the rest of the living world can be inferred. Specifically in the 2010 book, this movement of suspending the anthropocentric order is triggered by the juxtaposition of cosmological images and staged encounters with living beings closer to the ground.
