Abstract

Darwin e a Seleção Natural: Uma história filosófica, published by Pedro Paulo Pimenta, it is a rich and erudite essay on the conceptual and metaphorical bases of the theory of evolution by natural selection. It is an important contribution to understanding the conceptions that guided Darwin in the conception of his hypothesis. It also helps us to understand the diversity of understandings (and misunderstandings) linked to the scientific theory that sought (and still seeks) to explain “the mystery of all mysteries”, that is, the diversity of life forms present on Earth.
