This paper is an editorial note to be conceived as an introduction to the special issue ‘1892-2022: 130 years of Frege’s Über Sinn und Bedeutung’. Through the analysis of the papers included in the special issue, we argue that Frege’s foundational project of 1892 is wider than his logicist project in the philosophy of mathematics and that such a foundational project is developed along four main dimensions: 1) the development of a general semantics; 2) the philosophical foundation of both the formal language and the main modes of inference; 3) the foundation of scientific discourse; 4) the sketch of a semantics for natural language.
