Men’s health in primary care: factors that influence the care of the target audience

Introduction: Some aspects influence the distancing of men in seeking care in health units. Objective: Analyzing the factors that influence men’s health care in Primary Health Care. Methodology: A qualitative research conducted in a Basic Health Unit of Belo Horizonte. Men between 18 and 59 years old attended at the service were interviewed. The content of the statements was submitted to Thematic Content Analysis. Results: The participants are unaware of the policy directed to them and expressed how they feel during the attention, given the delay in care and the desire to be assisted as women. Three categories emerged: (Dis)Recognizing health policies; The search for health services; e Men’s dissatisfaction: revealing factors that hinder the search for health services. Conclusions: It is urgent to identify the satisfaction of the target audience. Permanent training and awareness of teams contribute to improvements in daily care.
