Abstract

To analyze and relate the causes of death due to falls between elderly and non-elderly in the state of Pernambuco, according to information captured in DATASUS in 2016. Study based on the use of tables generated by DATASUS, cataloged and filtered by the categories of falls indicated in ICD-10. For the purposes of the analysis, two groups were created based on the age bracket: group A - 5 to 59 years and group B - 60 to 74 years. It was verified that the category with the highest number of deaths in both groups in the list of deaths per residence was category W19, considered generic. Another result shows a decline in the motor activities of the individual when aging, based on a lower death rate in the categories related to high places and a higher rate in those that are correlated to the interior of house. It is expected that the results described in the research alert the managers of the public power to the real severity of the fall in the third age, besides raising awareness both the population in general and health professionals for the causes and consequences of the fall and, consequently, your prevention.
