Abstract

Abstract: The study of evapotranspiration is of fundamental importance for the correct use of water resources, to manage them sustainably. Thus, the objective of this work was to evaluate, compare and recommend one or more methods for estimating evapotranspiration with fewer meteorological variables for the region of Nossa Senhora da Glória, Sergipe. Dice from january 2018 to december 2019 were obtained from the meteorological station located in the experimental unit of Embrapa, campus Nossa Senhora da Glória. Blaney-Criddle, Camargo, Linacre, Jensen-Haise, Hargreaves & Samani and Penman-Momteih methods were applied, which is the FAO standard. The values estimated by these methods were compared with those obtained from the Penman-Monteith method, being evaluated using the statistical indicators of the Willmott concordance index, coefficient of determination r², Pearson r correlation coefficient r, standard error of estimate (SEE) and the performance index c. Regarding index c performance, the methods were classified as, Blaney-Criddle (very bad), Camargo (bad), Linacre (good), Jensen-Haise (very good) and Hargarves & Samani (very good). Therefore, the Jensen-Haise method was the most suitable for estimating reference evapotranspiration with a smaller numbes of climatic variables, in the region Where the study was carried out.
