Due to the increasing demand for the disposal of municipal solid waste and the barriers encountered in establishing new landfills, the elevation of these structures has been adopted as a strategy to expand waste disposal capacity. On the other hand, the risks associated with this practice, such as landslides, can cause significant environmental and social impacts. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze the stability of slopes in a landfill located in the Brazilian semi-arid region. The methodology involved twodimensional stability analyses and sensitivity analyses of the safety factor to variations in geotechnical parameters. Two scenarios were simulated: one with the landfill in an unsaturated state and another under saturated conditions. The analyses were conducted using the Slope/W and Slide/2 software. The results indicate that slope stability is closely related to the geotechnical properties of the MSW and the presence of the piezometric level of liquids in the mass. It was concluded that numerical simulations may present discrepancies when conducted in two different software programs, and that the accuracy of potential critical failure surfaces depends on the quality and representativeness of the input data
