Abstract
This research aims to analyze the characteristics of future academic and professional students of post-graduate studies in Accounting and Controlling in Brazil, since the selection of candidates should identify those who can contribute most to the performance of the program by through distinct stages of evaluation and analysis of the Lattes curriculum of each. Accordingly, through a descriptive study involving content analysis and quantitative approach, the study analyzed six programs, totaling 132 applicants to courses by using logistic regression which aimed to evaluate the statistically significant characteristics for the successful candidates, being addressed as study variables: experience work and educational, scientific production in periodicals and congresses. As overall conclusion of the study, we identified several factors that contribute to students' approval in selection processes under study, however, when it comes to professional and academic characteristics identified in candidates’ Lattes curriculum we identified two relevant variables: professional experience and scientific production in congresses, and this variable was the most discussed in international studies related to the evaluation of graduate programs.
