In this article, we propose an analysis of the discussion about the female vote held in the Brazilian Empire, circulating in the daily court papers from the second half of the nineteenth century. Our objectives will be, on the one hand, to understand how the daily newspapers were approaching such a discussion, considering a study from the perspective of gender relations and power imbricated in the newspapers. In the same way, we problematize the insertion of the female claim by the political participation, present in means of great circulation that for a long time remained marginalized in historical studies during the Eighth.
