Abstract

The present article analyzes the strategies of normalization of the body, based on the interventions and actions of the hygienist discourse, disciplinary immersed in the desire of an urban order for the city of Salvador between the decades of 1940-1950. Through the problematization of sources such as: Code of Postures and the writings carried out by the City Planning Office of the City of Salvador (EPUCS), confronting them with the photographs of the book / album Retratos da Bahia (1990) de Pierre Verger. Methodologically the photographs are perceived as points of inflection, allowing to theoretically discuss through the perspectives of Georges Bataille, Michel de Certeau and Michel Foucaul the mobility of these infamous subjects within the place of power, breaking for instants established institutional norms.
