The documentation coming from the city council provides us with important information about the urban colonial period daily life. Such documentation has been little explored as for studies on the topic that of has explored only the relationship between the Head of the Portuguese Empire and its American colony, not systematically contemplating other organs of power that were directly participating in the process of luso-brazilian urbanization. From this perspective, this paper presents a study of the documentation coming from the Arquivo Histórico da Câmara Municipal de Mariana in order to explain new agents that were active in the process of urbanization of the village / town of Mariana, explaining the force field involving the production colonial social space.
