The occasion of a council - at a time when they had already consolidated within the Western Christendom agenda and involved much of the laity site aristocratic – had consistent mobilization of the bishops, since the resolutions arising from such an assembly would shaping the actions and positions of the church subsequently. In an atmosphere of instability and conflict, due to the request of two bishops on papal succession, a new council was called. The venue for the realization of the same in the year 1064 was Mantua, medullary territory of areas of Canossa house. The realization and unfolding of what was called the Council of Mantua is a show of driving and policy action from Godofredo of Lorraine, Beatrice and Matilda of Canossa to integrate notable representatives of the social sphere of the period to their positions of power.
