The present article seeks to analyze the process of construction of the sound memory of the period of the great drought in the city of Sobral between 1877 until 1878 having as object of analysis the naturalist-regionalist novel Luzia-Homem de Domingos Olímpio, from this we will analyze the relationship between the concepts of sonority, literature, history and memory. The sound memory is seen as a space of totality of sounds that make up reality, loaded with multiciltural and identity meanings shared by the group; in this sense, we see the city space as a practiced and dynamic space. The authors that support our considerations are: Schafer (2001), Chartier (2009), Pesavento (2005), Melo (2017), Lefebvre (2000) and Ricoeur (2007).
