In the 1920's the rural area then delimited would bring in its bulge the concern to promote a certain set of activities and buildings for agricultural purposes. The idea that the region could become the "barn" of the Federal District was then promoted. Thinking with Rogério Haesbart's concept of territory, the rural area here is no longer a static space, a target of taxes, but a dynamic territory, which would be read and understood together with the social relations that were in force in them, and not as if this was something apart. Based on the analysis of legislative texts, journalistic articles and official pronouncements, this article is dedicated to reconstituting this process between 1917 and 1935, observing the way the region is thought and read by different agents from notions and objectives attributed to it.
