During the Algeria's War of Independence, or the Algerian Revolution (1954-1962) the colonial administration elected the liberation of Algerian women as a symbol of the so-called colonial emancipation campaign. This campaign consisted of a series of public investments and violent intervention in the reality of women accompanied by the sudden concession of progressive rights for them. This work aims to make an overview of the situation of the Algerian woman when the war begins and reconstruct aspects of such a campaign, highlighting how it affected different women and focusing on the multiplicity of positions and forms of action of Algerian women in the face of colonial attacks.
