This research report discusses the evaluations of history books published in Brazil, which I summarize to support my ongoing analysis of the production and publication of three recent oral history interview books. Considering the book circuit (Darnton, 2010) and the roles of authors and publishers (Bragança, 2005), what is known as “obras fronteiriças” (Glezer; Albieri, 2009) and market-driven historical narratives (Malerba, 2014) are linked to interview books rooted in the public-oriented oral history initiatives (Santhiago, 2013). The intersections between public history and oral history materialized in this type of book are also explored, and the main characteristics of the three case studies are identified. Due to the specificities of their publishing processes, oral history interview books foster and underscore continuous reflection on intentions, methods and achievements for both authors and readers.
