Abstract

The book “O retorno da sociedade: política e interpretações do Brasil”, published in 2019, is presented as a collection of articles written and gathered together by its own author, sociologist André Botelho. In the present review, we highlighted how the work examines the theoretical assumptions of Brazilian interpreters in order to bring forward Brazilian political sociology development. The author revisits the classics of Brazilian social thought, proposing and defending a historically oriented political sociology. In this way, the work contributes to a development understanding, to theoretical assumptions and to possibilities of thematic scope of this research field.
