This work proposes to perform a reading of Carnaval, the second book of the poetic work of Manuel Bandeira. Such reading should privilege the way Bandeira’s poetry moves away from the common idea of carnival as a party of excessive pleasures to privilege the vision of this party as a phenomenon in which the inner pain coexists with the impetus to overcome it through immediate pleasure. For this, our interpretative approach will aim - inspired by the sayings of Martin Heidegger about poetry and its interpretation - to listen to the saying of the language that resonates in each poem interpreted. We hope, thus, to demonstrate how the Carnaval of Manuel Bandeira is, in fact, a crossing for the search of itself.
