TEXUAL CONSTRUCTION FROM THE POINT OF VIEW: COMMITMENT AND ARGUMENTATIVE ORIENTATION

Abstract

The author manages the text, he is at the origin of the text, however, he does not appear to be solely responsible for the enunciation, considering that he activates several voices responsible for the thematic content. In this way, we will discuss the commitment for propositional contents, based on the understanding that the ways in which someone else's voice is taken and their meaning effects affect the argumentative orientation of the text. We take as corpus the discursive genre of a judicial sentence handed down in the records of a Public Civil Action. We anchor the discussion in the field of Textual Discourse Analysis, whose theoretical bases derive from Textual Linguistics and Enunciative Linguistics. This work deals with the concept of Commitment developed in Adam (2011) and Rabatel (2010, 2008), when the Announcer first speaker (not) assumes responsibility for what is said. To this end, we will focus on one of the linguistic units possible to mark the commitment of utterances, which is the Grammatical Category of Mediative proposed by Guentchéva (1994), when discussing the role of the enunciator as a mediator of the information(s) he discloses, assuming an attitude of non-engagement with the propositional content of the text. We conclude that the analyzed text shows that it is possible to indicate, through linguistic markers, the (non) commitment for propositional contents, as well as reflect on how it acts on the argumentative orientation of the text.
