Abstract

The paper provides an overview of the life, the thinking and the philosophical influence of the philosopher Hans Cornelius. After a brief reconstruction of his biography, the text exposes the main ideas he develops in his philosophical writings. Our priority is given to Cornelius’ concepts of “perception” and the “thing”, as his reformulation of these concepts have generally been regarded as his most original contributions to the history of philosophy and phenomenology. The essay then presents Husserl's criticism of Cornelius and the source of their philosophical differences. Finally, we reflect on the importance of Cornelius for the emergence of the so-called "Frankfurt School"

Daniel Pucciarelli, Universidade Estadual de Minas Gerais (UEMG)

Professor da Universidade do Estado de Minas Gerais. Professor colaborador dos Programas de Pós-Graduação em Filosofia da UFMG e em Artes da UEMG. Concluiu o bacharelado (UFMG, 2009), o mestrado (Erasmus Mundus Europhilosophie, 2012), o doutorado (Universidade de Munique, 2017) e um pós-doutorado em Filosofia (UFMG, 2017-2019). Foi professor visitante do Departamento de Filosofia da UFMG (2019-2020). Editor-adjunto da revista Artefilosofia. Tem experiência em filosofia moderna e contemporânea, com ênfase nos seguintes temas e áreas: crítica e teoria crítica da sociedade; estética, filosofia e crítica de arte; ontologia e pensamento especulativo contemporâneo

Eduardo Soares Neves Silva, Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG)

Possui Graduação em Filosofia pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1994), Doutorado em Filosofia pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (2006) e Pós-doutorado pela Leuphana Universität Lüneburg (2013) e pelo Theodor W. Adorno Archiv (2014). Foi professor de Relações Internacionais na Pontificia Universidade Católica de Minas Gerais (2002-2008) e professor visitante na Leuphana Universität Lüneburg, na Alemanha (2017). Atualmente, é Professor Associado da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, na qual foi Tutor do Programa de Educação Tutorial em Filosofia (2009-2012), Chefe do Departamento de Filosofia (2014-2017) e é Subcoordenador do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Filosofia (2019-). Coordenador do Grupo Crítica e Dialética - UFMG (https://grupocriticaedialetica.wordpress.com/). Tem experiência nas áreas de Filosofia e Ciência Política, com ênfase em Filosofia Contemporânea, Filosofia das Ciências Sociais e Estética.
