This article examines the practical rules derived from Kant's Formula of the End in Itself of the Categorical Imperative (CI), including the prohibition of deception, coercion, and causing harm. The main aim is to investigate the implications of a duty-based ethical approach in addressing contemporary challenges facing humanity, such as climate change. In doing so, it seeks to verify the validity of the criticism that labels Kantian ethics as excessively abstract and formalistic. Furthermore, it highlights the scope of this approach in evaluating both individual and institutional actions, advocating for the adoption of the polluter-pays principle at both individual and institutional levels.Downloads
