Abstract

This article investigates the use of so-called fake news, in the context of politics in the light of Kantian practical philosophy. The history of false information, the use of lies in politics, the definition of fake news and post-truth, the propagation through data manipulation are parts of this analysis and in this sense, we reflect on how Kant's practical philosophy, based on his Rejection of lies can contribute as an antidote to the re-establishment of truth, of ethics in politics, in this scenario of the exacerbated use of false news. To this end, the responsible and rational exercise of freedoms, the valorization of the dignity of the person, by autonomous subjects in combating the minority of thought and heteronomy are fundamental for the cultivation of other relationships in politics, consistent with the reality of facts and ethical subjects committed to the truth.
