Abstract

This article's fundamental objective is to present Kant's legacy for international relations based on the preliminary articles of Perpetual Peace (1795). Most studies focus their attention on definitive articles, however, forget to analyze the relevance of what precedes them. The hypothetical point of this investigation is that without the preliminary articles, the definitive articles for peace between peoples do not have sufficient force. From a methodological point of view, this article is divided into two parts: a propaedeutic on the legacy of critical philosophy aiming to reconsider the author's contribution in concrete terms to philosophy preparing the way for Perpetual Peace and then, a focused approach in the contributions of preliminary articles to the peaceful construction of international relations.
