Abstract

O município de Natal - RN apresenta uma forte ocupação de sua zona costeira, sendo um local de constante especulação imobiliária que tem acarretado diversos problemas de ordem ambiental. O objetivo dessa pesquisa é identificar os serviços ecossistêmicos prestados pela praia de Ponta Negra, serviços esses agrupados nas classes de Regulação e Manutenção, Provisão e Culturais. A escolha dessa praia deve-se ao fato de ser uma das mais famosas do estado e, consequentemente, uma das mais frequentadas por turistas e também pela população local. A praia de Ponta Negra apresenta um nível de uso extremamente elevado e sua ocupação vem causando sérios prejuízos ambientais e também financeiros à toda a população de Natal.
