Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- The contribution is original and is not being evaluated for publication elsewhere; otherwise, this shall be justified in "comments to the editor." Texts previously presented in congresses and symposiums are acceptable as expanded and updated versions. In this case, the author should mention the fact in the first footnote of the article.
- Links for the references have been provided where possible.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, in the Journal page's About.
- Keywords are crucial if you want to have your text found by readers. Verify the existence of subject headings related to your article at the Library of Congress Authorities database (http://authorities.loc.gov/ ). Be sure to insert at least one of the more general terms like: Arts; Music; Theatre; Performing Arts; Performance; Dance; Visual Arts; Painting; Photography...
- In case of acceptance for publication, the author should be responsible for the translation to Portuguese, preferably by a native speaker.

Make sure you present your institution’s (affiliation) name in full and in its original language. This is an important indexation procedure.
- The main author of the submission is a Doctor or PhD. In the case of articles written in collaboration between several co-authors, the main author has a PhD degree. The link to the author's official and updated curriculum vitae was provided in the submission authorship form. It is recommended that the author register the ORCID number in the system at the time of submission; It can be obtained from the following link: https://orcid.org/
- The article submission in Portuguese or in non-English language contains all the required elements in English: article title, abstract, keywords, short resume of the author with up to 150 words.
- The author has declarations or authorizations that allow the reproduction of images included in the article, when they are not for free use, in the Public Domain or under Creative Commons licenses. Formal authorizations or releases have been or will be sent to the ARJ journal.
- Supplementary documents (images, sound and moving images) are in PNG, JPG, MP3 or MP4 formats.
- The path to the Lattes curriculum (mandatory for Brazilians) or the official curriculum (for foreigners) was informed on the author's registration form. It is recommended that the author register the ORCID number in the system at the time of submission; it can be obtained from the following link: https://orcid.org/
Dossier: Multidisciplinary Perspectives in the Field of Art
Original articles submitted in streaming (main text between 30,000 and 80,000 characters with spaces) will be peer evaluated. The authors of these articles should have a PhD or equivalent. Articles may be submitted in Portuguese or English through the journal's website. Being accepted, the author will be asked to provide a bilingual version of the article, under the guidance of the Chief Editor.
Related audio-visual products may be submitted as supplementary documents. We also recommend the deposit of the artistic product with Internet Archive or Petrucci Music Library.
Articles
Theater, Dance, Visual Arts or Music original articles submitted in streaming (main text between 30,000 and 80,000 characters with spaces) will be peer evaluated. The authors of these articles should have a PhD or equivalent. Articles may be submitted in Portuguese or English through the journal's website. Being accepted, the author will be asked to provide a bilingual version of the article, under the guidance of the Chief Editor.
Products with thematic, methodological or conceptual link with research lines in creative poetics and interpretive practices are particularly welcome.
Related audio-visual products may be submitted as supplementary documents. We also recommend the deposit of the artistic product with Internet Archive or Petrucci Music Library.
Interviews
About 4,000 words. Photos or artistic products of the interviewee must be authorized for publication in ARJ magazine. The interviewee (s) or interviewer (s), at least one must have a doctorate. The order of authorship is as follows: the first author is the interviewee and the second author is the interviewer.
Reviews
ARJ - Art Research Journal reviews academic publications, research documentaries and online resources in the field of arts. Reviews must have a maximum of 2,000 words.
Dossier: Generative Video Art
The Generative Video Art dossier aims to map and discuss creative processes in the field of Media Art that involve video art created with generative AI. Contributions will be welcomed from researchers who propose texts, articles, reviews or interviews that contribute to the description, investigation, reports of creative processes and analyses of artistic works produced in video from appropriations and uses of generative AI tools, whose results can reveal an expressive and referential set about what is called, in this context, Generative Video Art.
