Abstract

In the scenario of citizen science, it is essential to train citizen scientists to ensure the accuracy of the scientific data collected and that the benefits of research are socially distributed. Information is seen as a right, so research results should be shared in open access whenever possible. This study investigated citizen science projects in two important areas of knowledge, the Humanities and Social Sciences, based on the brazilian citizen science platform and the mapping of the Rede Portuguesa de Ciência Cidadã. Seven initiatives were found in these fields. An analysis of these projects' websites revealed that few of them detail the training offered to citizen-scientists and that some of them do not yet promote broad openness with regard to productions based on social contribution.
