Abstract

Promoting the reading means by which to absorb knowledge recorded, is something that should be analyzed carefully by educational and cultural institutions, it is from there that the individual can develop. In the library, provide opportunities for access to information is the job of a librarian, who, aware of the importance of reading, and the need for initiatives that encourage this practice, is always seeking mechanism to intensify the use of existing tools. On the occasion of the twenty-first Week of Science, Technology and Culture - CIENTEC, whose central theme "Light: awakening looks, lighting ideas," the Central Library Zila Mamede (BCZM) launches the project "Read illuminates your mind" in order to encourage the use of information that is distributed in its collection. One of the initiatives was the availability of the string literature acquis, considering it a support which promotes the art, science and popular traditions; help in the dissemination of information and stimulates the pleasure of reading, and bring relevant information to diverse users. The objective is to promote and encourage the use of the cordel through the audiocordel, among holders of visually impaired users. For this, we used the DSpeech, a software that allows you to read aloud any text, thus maximizing the reading of the line, making it even more, into a valuable tool for inclusion. It is expected that the use of DSpeech can arouse the interest of visually impaired users, and even the visionaries, the source of this information. Thus, access to knowledge and, specifically, the reading becomes truly universal.
