Topos and Trope: The production of space in literary narrative

There is a tight relation between scholars research in Literature and History, which reflect a critical perspective about time and space, just like the place of historian in the face of the new epistemological challenges of history’s studies. The dossier “Topos and Trope: The production of space in literary narrative” aims to find in both areas of knowledge different possibilities of analysis around these narratives, which focus on the critical of fictional writing.

Through literary narratives, the experiences of men and women and the sensibilities of a particular time are highlighted. The collective and personal experiences reveals aspects that compose an inner universe of the individuals. Thereby, it becomes possible to discuss the relationships between individuals and the spaces that they occupy, and go beyond to what is true in a story that is expressed through art and literary aesthetics.

In this sense, this dossier will be open to researchers that studies spatiality and its relation with literature, in which the production of fiction and non-fictional are inserted in the historical debate: article, chronicle, correspondence and intimate diary. The first volume of 2020 from Espacialidades Journal intends to publish articles about the relation between History and Literature, linked by the scope of the Jornal, that discusses the most diverse contents and methods that permeate the spatialities, involving issues related to narrative, language, intellectuality, biography and art.

Also, it will be accepted papers on other subjects that emphasizes the scope of this journal: spatiality concepts and its multiple relation with time and humans territory, space, place, landscape, displacement, domains, borders, horizon, etc. Furthermore, it will be accepted reviews, interviews, translations, transcription documents about spatiality concepts.
