Abstract

This article seeks to analyze the bibliography on the processes of construction of state interventions on education for indigenous populations in the territory, now called Brazil. Through the bibliographical analysis of history, beginning with the Jesuit missions that were first responsible for education for indigenous populations, then with the Proclamation of the Republic. The maintenance of education has as a body responsible for the constitution and uniformity of a state policy the Indian Protection Service (SPI), which maintained an education based on positivist and evolutionist ideals. In 1967, the National Indian Foundation (FUNAI) was founded, the then official body responsible for assisting in the construction of School Education for indigenous populations.
