It should be noted that Gaston Bachelard and Rogger Caillois are hardly summoned by what we
sometimes call French Philosophy. They are, however, two profoundly original thinkers placed
on the margins of philosophical cartography. Curiously, both of them will be initially participating
in the creation of the magazine called Inquisition, which has only a number was published in
1936. Later on, their ways will clearly differ, and Bachelard's references to Caillois will be limited
mainly to treaties on the myth and the sacred. However, they will touch upon common concerns
as the fate of poetry, the ambitions of science, the splendor of the mineral and vegetable
kingdoms. It is necessary to add a subtle relation with metaphysics and its possible reduction.
Moreover, the differences in the approaches made by each of them are related to analogies.
We do not care: we are talking about two solitary walkers, endowed with an unusual power.
